Buyer’s guide
Investment research platform comparison
Most investment research platforms compete on data breadth. Very few help you act on that data consistently. This guide compares AETOS with three widely used peers — Morningstar, Zacks and Koyfin — and explains where a decision layer changes the outcome.
Which platform fits which job
Morningstar
Best for fund ratings, analyst write-ups and long-form fundamental coverage. Strong if your process is manager selection.
Zacks
Best for earnings-estimate revisions and rank-driven screening. Strong if your process is shorter-horizon equity rotation.
Koyfin
Best for charting, dashboards and financial data breadth at a low price. Strong if you build your own analysis.
AETOS
Best for long-horizon allocators who lose money to hesitation and drift rather than to bad data. Strong if your process needs enforcement.

Where AETOS is genuinely different
Decision Contracts
You write the rule while calm: a price threshold, a macro condition such as a VIX level, and a thesis requirement. AETOS evaluates armed contracts daily against real data and tells you when your own rule fired. No other platform in this comparison holds you to a decision you made in advance.
Thesis Decay Monitor
Every holding carries a reasoning record with an age. Once a thesis passes 90 days without review it is flagged, so stale conviction becomes visible instead of invisible.
Capital Allocation Index and Opportunity Scores
One 0–100 regime score built from liquidity, rates, dollar strength, volatility, credit, geopolitics and valuation, paired with per-asset opportunity scores from a 90-day valuation percentile. Environment and asset are scored on the same scale, so sizing follows from both.
AI that names its gaps
Narratives are generated only from a verified data snapshot. Anything unavailable — a Tadawul quote that failed to retrieve, for example — is listed as a flagged gap rather than smoothed over.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best investment research platform?
- It depends on the job. Morningstar is strongest for fund ratings and analyst write-ups, Zacks for earnings-estimate momentum, and Koyfin for charting and financial data breadth. AETOS is built for a different job: enforcing your own decision rules across a macro regime score, opportunity scores, decision contracts and thesis reviews.
- How is AETOS different from a data terminal?
- Data terminals answer 'what is happening'. AETOS answers 'what did I already decide to do when this happens', by evaluating pre-written Decision Contracts daily and flagging theses that have gone stale.
- Can AETOS replace Morningstar, Zacks or Koyfin?
- For most users it complements them. Those platforms supply deep fundamental data and analyst coverage; AETOS supplies the decision layer — regime scoring, pre-commitment, sizing and thesis maintenance — on top of whatever research you already trust.
- Does AETOS execute trades?
- No. AETOS is decision-support only. It does not place orders, manage money, or provide investment advice.
